While our three children were at school on Valentine's Day, we rode the Metro to DC and spent a fun afternoon exploring like tourists. Our first stop was the Natural History Museum. We gazed at the Hope diamond and examined lots of other serious bling! as well as strolled past the butterfly exhibit and through historical artifacts exhibits. The photography exhibit was wonderful! Once our fingers & toes were fully thawed, we bundled back up and headed back outdoors to walk the Mall (the area between the Capitol building and the Washington Monument). The temperature outside was below freezing (maybe 28-30 F) but comfortable because it was sunny with a pretty blue sky. Later that evening we enjoyed BBQ ribs and all the yummy side dishes that go with them and then for dessert ... (the best part!) my favorite chocolate ganache from Trader Joe's. It was a very special day since we also celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary.
