He's Got the Whole World in His Hands

Recently Brian's class has been studying the seven continents. His class even made paper mache globes and painted them. Brian will engage any willing listener in a crash course on the seven, beginning with his favorite one -- North America (it is after all where we live, at least for the next two months, anyway).

Brian has also been studying letters and their sounds throughout his Kindergarten year. He's very interested in vowels and likes to talk about the letter "Y" since it is tricky & sneaky sometimes. He also likes to repeat verbatim the language arts rules he learns regarding spelling of words, letter sounds, etc.

Just the other day he mixed up the two concepts (continents and vowels) to tell me this:

"Mom, "Y" is really a continent (consonant) but sometimes it's a bowel (vowel)."

I practically peed in my pants holding in the laughter from this one!
