A few days after the fact I know, but here are several pictures from events this past 4th of July weekend. First, there was a contest at Band Camp so Ashley decorated her clarinet with lots of red, white & blue frills and wore flags in her hair along with patriotic colored attire. Her friend, Chase, took first place, but Ashley received an honorable mention and had a great time decorating. One of the rules was that she still had to be able to play her clarinet that day at band camp so this restricted the decorations a bit. Also no tape, stickers, etc. you know, things that would/could damage the instrument.
Next, we attended the McLean II Ward's pancake dinner and activity which is where the fancy balloons came from. Brian loved marching to patriotic music with a bunch of other energetic little people and blowing on his new pinwheel. (although sticking it out the car window on the way home was much more effective for achieving top spinning speed!)
Lastly, on the night of the 4th we went over to George Mason High School in Falls Church City to see their fireworks display. It was a solid 30 minutes of pyrotechnic pleasure!
