Today I took a tour of the Goyo Cashmere Factory. Lots and lots of big machinery is used to turn the dehaired wool fibers from goats into a nice warm cashmere sweater, blanket, scarf or gloves. Actually it takes fibers from 3 goats just to make enough cashmere for one adult sized sweater. I learned a lot about the process and the reasons behind the high cost of cashmere items. Fascinating tour!
the raw material -- the "fur" which is a mix of cashmere fibers, hair, dirt, sticks, etc. from the belly of a goat -- this is where they sort it into colors (there are 4 color groups)
