Brian's 2nd Grade class recently finished a unit of inquiry on "Home" which included constructing a personalized home with a partner. They used cardboard and other recyclables along with paint, string and lots of creativity to design and build their homes. Parents were invited to the morning assembly where the Grade 2 class presented their completed projects.

Brian was very pleased that he remembered all his lines for the presentation. He described several of the home's features and talked about each room as well as what materials were used to make and personalize this house. And, yes, that is a swimming pool on the top floor. (Next unit of inquiry: adequate home owner's insurance policies!)
After all the children made their presentations, the non-Mongolian students in Grade 2 sang a song about a turnip, in Mongolian! They've been studying Mongolian language this year and have classes 4 times per week. Brian has excelled at this and recently brought home a certificate of achievement for his efforts. Heave, ho! It took all the students to pull that stubborn turnip out of the ground!
