The annual fundraiser for the Diplomatic Wives Club was held today at the Ulaanbaatar Hotel. Our US Embassy stall raised just over 750,000 tugriks selling homemade baked goods, hand sewn aprons and USA-themed souvenir items. The funds raised are used to support various charities here in Mongolia. Many Embassies participated with stalls selling everything from foods, sweets, clothing, books, artwork, jewelry, handbags and household items to fresh vegetables and musical items. This very successful fundraiser is well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy the live entertainment which was provided by the Russian Embassy and local Mongolian club members. Spending time with the other US FSO spouses is one of the neat perks of Foreign Service life. In this photo you can really see that the USA is a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. Amongst this small group of Embassy spouses there are 6 nations represented! [USA, Scotland, Slovak Republic, China, Mongolia and Vietnam] These ladies all gave selflessly of their time and talents to support the local charities today. It was a pleasure to be with them!
