Son #2 had ankle surgery this morning on his left leg. He's got really well developed calf muscles in each leg (gastrocnemius - you learn a new word every day!) and shorter than normal achilles tendons making it difficult to walk properly (he's up on his toes most of the time). The procedure today lengthened his achilles tendon to restore full range of motion of his left foot. After the healing period, if the procedure worked, then he'll be able to walk putting his heel down first then his toes. Also, he'll be able to stand straight with his heels together and no bending at the knees. In a couple months from now, we should be able to get his true height measurement for the first time in 8 years.
