Nothing like finally getting a day to yourself where everyone else in the family leaves to go to the places they usually go and you have the house all to yourself and then you go out to do some Christmas-related errands and you get a call on your cell phone and the person on the other end is the nurse from the school clinic (doesn't she know me by my first name by now?!?) and you find out that your daughter is ill (fever, vomiting, etc.) so you have to stop what you're doing/enjoying and go get her. Bummer. That's life, I guess.
I haven't been blogging much lately because right after Thanksgiving we spent a few days moving stuff (a lot of stuff!) to the downstairs so that our new hardwood floor could be installed. The installation took three long, noisy days, but it looks wonderful! Our clothes dryer died and also destroyed the circuit breaker along the way so we bought a new dryer at Lowe's, brought it home and muscled it into the house. Charles installed it (awesome!) and the electrician came and replaced the breaker. A couple days later we celebrated Charles' birthday and have been busy preparing our main-level powder room for primer, paint, new toilet, baseboards and more. We enjoyed a light snowfall and a Christmas party at church over the weekend and yesterday we decorated our home a little bit for Christmas. We've also been keeping the trash man busy by filling our garbage can with small pieces of our old carpet & pad. Trash came today and I've already filled the can up again ready for Friday's pick up. Since it snowed, the carpet remnants got all wet and then froze. I discovered that it's not easy to roll up frozen carpet!
I have also managed to order a few Christmas presents on-line ... most will be sent to family in California. Anyway, blogging has taken a back seat the past few weeks.

Frozen carpet is no good for rolling.
