A Spiritual Weekend

Friday evening we gathered at the LDS Bayanzurkh Building for a 6:30 baptismal service for our district. Two were baptized that evening, Brian and one other person (a 20 year old girl named Purevsuren). In attendance were several of the senior missionary couples from the USA, one pair of English speaking Elders (young male missionaries), the Mission President & his wife, 2 local Bishops, our Branch President and about 50 local Mongolian members (several from our branch). As part of the service, Brian was invited to share from the pulpit his testimony and feelings on being baptized. He did a great job! It was an uplifting experience and we are so happy for Brian, that he has taken this important step towards his eternal salvation by being baptized!

After the baptismal service concluded, we took some photos in the foyer and then were invited to a room adjoining the kitchen where members from our branch had prepared juice, candies and a cake to celebrate! Brian was very excited to be the center of attention and listened intently to the Branch President's remarks in welcoming him to the branch as the newest member. Our Branch President speaks English quite well, having served his mission in Pocatello, Idaho.

Today in our Sacrament Meeting Brian was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by Charles. Also, it happened to be the Sunday Charles and I had agreed some weeks ago to give talks in Sacrament ... so we did that, too! I spoke about the Importance of the Scriptures and Charles spoke about the First and Second Commandments. There was a leader from the District Presidency there today (being the third Sunday it was the equivalent of 'High Council Sunday') and this leader was the final speaker. He is also a returned missionary and was the one who interpreted for us (English to Mongolian) so that the congregation could easily understand what we were saying.

The good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was definitely shared today and our family was uplifted.
