Ian's Big Toe Adventure

Poor Ian.  Recurring ingrown toenails lead to a double infection this week.  Monday evening there was a trip to urgent care where an antibiotic was prescribed along with a follow up appointment with a podiatrist.  The podiatrist recommended a matrixectomy for each big toe and performed the procedures Friday afternoon.  Local anesthetic was used and lots of gauze & bandages.  Once the toenails are all healed up in about 3 weeks he'll be better than new!  This should eliminate the possibility of future ingrown toenails.

Yes, his feet fit into his shoes afterward and he could walk pretty well, albiet a little bit slower than usual.  Every 6 hours, 800 mg Ibuprofen -- he feels just fine!
