Another Service Project

Son #2 has done a lot of yard work lately!  Just not in our yard ... hahahaha.
The young men (ages 12-18) at our church got together on Saturday and spread leaf mulch and planted some flowers at a member's home.  The group was at this same house a few Saturdays ago doing other yard chores to prep the areas which were to receive the mulch this weekend.  By attending and helping with this 2-day project and the recent Eagle project some hours over the past three Saturdays, son has completed the required service hours for the BSA Star rank - wahoo!  For the next several months, any service projects son chooses to participate in will be optional rather than required.  That's a good feeling.  Once he's reached Star rank in August, though, he will need more service hours to get to Life rank.  And then more for Eagle.  I am pleased he is beginning to see the value in helping others and focusing less on 'self' and that he's learning how to work with a group.

Last week of school this week.  Son leaves for scout camp one week from today! I think he is mostly packed.
I'm not ready, though.
Going to miss him.
