Bathroom Remodel: Day 4 & 5

The morning of Day 4 was largely spent installing a lighted ceiling fan in son #1's bedroom, which has nothing to do with the bathroom remodel, really, but since the contractor was already here and had to wait for the cement base of the shower to cure anyway, the ceiling fan went in.

This job required access from the attic which involved moving around a bunch of stuff we have stored up there and then removing the plywood flooring and blown-in insulation in the spot above where the fan was installed.  It was hot hot hot in the attic ... about 150 F, so the contractor worked as fast as possible while up there.  The fan is installed and wonderful!  (Should I confess that we purchased this ceiling fan more than a year ago and are just now getting this done?) Son is very happy that his room is much more comfortable and less noisy now.  He no longer needs to run a floor fan.  This ceiling fan is super quiet!

Progress in the bathroom included:
Tile floor and marble threshold installed

Shower stall cement board installed
Shampoo niche and soap niche installed
The niches are tile ready inserts with appropriate water seal.  These are made to fit perfectly between standard framing and are anchored into the wall framing 2x4's.
Wall tile arrangement has been measured and marked.  The listello will be installed just above the niches.  The rest of the wall will be 6"x6" tiles which match the floor tiles.  The floor tiles are 12" x 12".

The cement tile ready base is fully cured and ready for the mosaic tiles to be installed.

Shower has a diverter.  Before there were individual controls for hot and cold.
Sink vanity has two new replacement shut-off valves.
Toilet has a new replacement shut-off valve.

Now we are at the end of day 5.  I'm feeling great, like this will be done in a couple days; for sure by the end of the week and I will be enjoying my new bathroom by the weekend.  Very happy.
